After Lethal Injection
No longer able to procure lethal injection drugs like midazolam and pentobarbital due to manufacturer ethics, US states are looking for alternatives on how to off their death-row inmates. Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Utah have settled on their methods, some new, some old.

Interesting read. I'm sort of torn on capital punishment myself. Some guys like Timothy McVeigh? Absolutely deserved his little trip to Terre Haute to get a few injections. Most others? I say no. Besides being an irreversible penalty and already hundreds of convictions reversed by the Innocence Project, it costs more to execute a prisoner than life behind bars. No, really. The staggering costs of the endless legal appeals costs more than a lifetime of three slops and a flop.

I recognize that I have a different view of death than many - probably most - other people, but I think a life of imprisonment is more of a deterrent for me personally than a quick and relatively painless death. To that end, I think the death penalty is bad, not for the reasons you state, but because I think it's too soft for our hardest criminals. Let them live out their days in a box, in solitude, with no company but the memory of their crimes. Ever. That's justice in my eyes.

I think if the death penalty is going to be any kind of effective deterrent, though, it needs to be mandatory viewing for every single person in its jurisdiction. People are too far from it these days to have their morals impacted by it.

My grandmother lived in Huntsville when she was a child, and whenever the chair went into action, it dimmed the lights in town from the power drain. She told me often how she would hide under the covers whenever it happened. The message was not lost on her. She was close to it, far closer than most are today.

Can I give you a posi-tootley on life internment for most of these guys? Dzhokhar Tsarnaev wants to be a martyr. Don't give him that. Make him die of eating bread and water in the basement of the nearest supermax.

Yes, too sterile. Get the message out and make it inhumane and horrible.

So the brownouts really happened back in the day, huh? Not just the movies? Similar to what I just posted. Let the whole town know.
