Nope, no html anywhere. It's all bbcode now.

Private messaging is back!

Now, if you're a registered user, you can send and receive private message to and from other registered users, like we had back in 2.0.

If you had messages stored in the old system, they're still there for you now, but be warned - we're storing messages differently now, and any old messages you had may be peppered with HTML tags, as that's the way stuff was stored in the db way back when.

In the interest of efficiency, please delete messages when you're done with them. If the site starts bogging down, the backlog of already-read private messages will be the first to get the boot!

Rewrites are in place so old url's will resolve to their new format. Heh, guess I shoulda done that pre-launch.

Yeah, so after fiddling with some javascript - have I mentioned how much I hate javascript? - I have the cam portal auto-refreshing the images. Rather than annoyingly reloading the page each time, each image individually goes out at 30 second intervals and grabs an update.

The most active cams will float to the top of the portal via a different process, the server goes out every 15 minutes or so and checks to see if cam images have been updated, and sorts them accordingly.

FYI, we're gonna roll over 4 million pageviews today. At the time of this post, we're about 100 away, and we average around 1500 a day. This counter started 3/4/02, when we went from blogger to PostNuke.

Nope. The Miata has been dead for awhile. But I still have it. I bought an '09 Subaru Impreza. I've been thinking about moving from Texas to Vermont, so I figured that would be the proper car.

Well, I'm about a year, maybe a year an a half from moving TO Texas. If we manage to occupy the same state at the same time, we should meet up and bowl or sumthin.

Central-ish. We're looking at the hill country, between or around San Antonio and/or Austin. Marble Falls is the latest little town we've been eyeballing. Boerne is in the running as well. We want a small town that's within an hour or so of a big city.

Given my druthers, I'd be back on the coast, but Sunny's got some kind of aversion to natural disasters like hurricanes and flooding.

C'est la vie. As long as I'm back in the homeland, it doesn't really matter where. EXCEPT EL PASO, natch.

As for Dallas, we moved away when I was 7 so I only know the city in the form of family visits - but it's definitely declined (or at least, my perception of it) over the decades.

At the request of longtime 'logger Hellvis, there is now an option to send a log post to your facebook wall. You have to be signed in for this option to be available.

Open up the post's page (where you'd go to see the comments and stuff) and in the post's upper right corner is the familiar box with a star in it - click that and there's an option to facebook the page within.
