The Bush administration is significantly lowering expectations of what can be achieved in Iraq, recognizing that the United States will have to settle for far less progress than originally envisioned during the transition due to end in four months, according to U.S. officials in Washington and Baghdad.

Even if they are involved in cliquey, bigoted behavior.
After all, isn't the sacrifice of our troops in support of our freedom? Including the freedom to be a closed minded idiot?
BTW, their slogan is "Perpetuating the noble principles for which they fought and died." I guess Staff Sgt. Anthony Lagman doesn't count since his mom isn't a citizen.

So, the other day, Sunny asked me what a MILF was. Being that she qualifies as one herself, I told her, and she was appropriately disgusted by the categorization.
Turns out that our military has a problem with MILFs as well.

To quote ex-Sgt. Nadim Abou Rabeh of the U.S. Marines, "...A military production team fabricated the film of Saddam's capture in a hole, which was in fact a deserted well."
Anyone else just a little disturbed by this?

Russia will remain a major nuclear power, but we will not bake missiles like pies.
Phew. You ever eat some Russian pie? Not so good. Though, I'd rather eat a Russian pie than a Russian nuke.

The search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq has quietly concluded without any evidence of the banned weapons that President Bush cited as justification for going to war.

Put your money, or just pen and paper, where your mouth is, bub!
My Soldier is a program that lets U.S. soldiers know that someone back home cares. The goal of the program is to show support for troops by establishing pen-pal relationships with them. Typically, the soldier then replies and direct correspondence begins (about 80% of soldiers respond, but 100% appreciate getting the letters). Participants may also choose to send care packages, which are greatly appreciated (but not expected) by the soldiers. The program is free, but donations are accepted.

It's worth it to look at the casualties of war as they really are. Especially in America, we look at the world through sterilized lenses. Our mental image of war is that of honor and hard work, not of death and carnage.
Truth is, war is evil; it's not the john wayne movies we were raised watching.
Ask any combat vet, and he'll tell you that words cannot describe the horror, all words do is minimize it.
I'm no peacenick. I did 10 years in the Guard. And I knew my duty, and I did it quite well. But it's important that we all look at the reality of what we do. If we, as a nation, want to go to war, let's go into it with our eyes wide open and the will to win.
