Eddie Clontz, longtime editor of the Weekly World News and the man responsible for Bat Boy and Ed Anger, has died of complications from diabetes at 56. Washington Post columnist Gene Weingarten said it best: "Here was a man who simply refused, as a matter of principle, to allow truth to get in the way of a great story."

Another familiar childhood personality bites the dust. This time, it's Captain K. Thats right folks, Captain Kangaroo.

Known for his corny children's show back when I was growing up, Bob Keeshan, died today at age 76 - the cause, a 'long illness' - WTF?! Personally, I suspect the moose did it with all those ping pong balls... then again, it could have been Mr. Greenjeans, too...

Knowing that these celeb deaths seem to happen in threes - who do you 'spose'll be the next couple to croak?

Today, Fred Berry of the 70's sitcom What's Happenin!! has officially been pronounced dead at 52.

What bothers me even more than Re-Run kickin the bucket is onset of a grim realization that so many of our quirky television role-models of days gone by are dropping off like flies. Yes, I know its inevitable, but who the fuck is going to replace them? In my opinion, the 80's spawned a bunch of shite; I mean what did they give us? Screech? Michael Knight? fucking Urkel!?

Sad days are ahead indeed. As an avid television junkie back in the day, Re-Run's death really hits home...

Enjoy your dirtnap you silly black fatman - we'll miss ya.

Not so good for protecting your head in collision with ice. Robert Atkins, the founder of the Atkins Diet, died today. Oddly enough had he been wearing some meat and cheese around his head he would have survived.

It's a bitter irony that the man who wrote the words "War - what is it good for, absolutely nothing" should die at a time when the majority of the world is repeating his very words.
